Baustein: "Define configuration directory" menu item
In the GGU programs, you can save settings for the display of certain elements on the sheet in a file, usually with the file extension ".alg". These configurations are then loaded automatically when the program is started. You can also adapt and save other configuration files for colours, pens or profiles etc. according to your requirements.
When installing the program, some of the possible configuration files are always installed as they are required to start the program. When you update the program, your customisations may be overwritten or you may not have write access to the program folder.
You can therefore use this menu item to define your own configuration directory in which you can save your configuration files, depending on the GGU program. You will see the following dialog box:
Once you have defined the configuration directory, restart the program to permanently adopt this setting.
When you start a GGU program, the system first checks your configuration directory to see whether the required configuration files are present. If no corresponding files are found in the configuration directory, the default versions from the program folder (installation folder) are used. This eliminates the regular overwriting and authorisation problems of the configuration files in the program folder.
Folders on file shares can also be used as configuration directories so that several users can share the same configurations without having to copy them.
